Library Management and Reading Promotion Group
Throughout the school year, our Reading Ambassadors organize reading sessions to promote reading through book sharing, discussions, oral presentations, and sharing of reading experiences, enabling students to gain a deeper understanding of the works they have read and to reflect on them. Students can be a source of motivation for one another through the sharing of their own reading experiences and stories of personal success.
"Classroom Mini Library Program" - Diligence and Enjoyment in Reading
Wai Kiu College has always emphasized extracurricular reading. To encourage students to broaden their horizons through reading, cultivate good reading habits, and find joy in reading, our school has invested a significant amount of resources in promoting a reading culture in recent years.
This program involves setting up a book cabinet in classrooms for students from S1 to S3, and teachers from various subjects have selected a large collection of Chinese and English books for the students. In the new academic year, we have added science magazine "Children's Science" and English series "Oxford Reading Tree" to further increase the amount of books students read and expand their reading horizons. Besides, the school has specially dedicated reading periods to the class schedule for S1 to S3, allowing students to have more opportunities to read books outside the curriculum and creating a reading atmosphere within the class.
This program is also aligned with the reading program organized by public libraries, where students who borrow over 100 books throughout the year can receive a gold award certificate.
